Invest in

yourself

Championships don’t happen overnight. They are a return on a long-term investment. These athletes know the same can be said for life outside the lines.

Invest in yourself

By Jeff Eisenband

Fans know these world-class athletes for their performances in stadiums and arenas. But what they do off the field — investing in their own health, wellness and businesses— is just as impressive.

For decades, these athletes have fine-tuned their own physical abilities to reach the highest levels of their sport.

Hyperice has helped them maintain that level of peak performance so much so that it led them to become one of the many prominent athletes who have invested in the brand.

In their own words, these superstars share how they are investing in themselves and taking their talent and fortune to the next level, for decades to come.

  • Q

With no fans this year, but having them in 2019, when you looked at the crowd, what did you see in the faces rooting for you?

  • A

Every time I see the fans, it just makes me smile. I feel like it's just love. I feel like they can see the love I have for the game, that this is a passion. I feel like I transmit it and everybody just embraces it.

  • Q

How do you think your upbringing in the Dominican Republic and in the U.S. helped you become a global ambassador for the game?

  • A

That's very important because I have seen both cultures and I've been able to combine different aspects that make each one special and apply it to the way I play the game.

  • Q

What is something unique in your daily routine you do to invest in yourself?

  • A

Recovery is something I do for my daily routine, especially when playing a lot of games in-season. I definitely use my recovery boots and a massage gun a lot, whether it's after practice or after a game to help my body recover faster.

  • Q

What other areas of your life off the court are important to you?

  • A

Being a father, that’s number one. It's also very important being a son and a brother to my parents and my sister, being a nephew, whatever. Like I said, I'm a big family guy, so I feel like all those things are important.

What is unique about recovery for an MMA athlete?

  • A

Everything hurts all the time. It’s a sport where you use your entire body all the time, thankfully Hyperice and a solution for that.
